Course Description:
Since they were first incorporated into dental products for prevention, much has changed in the world of fluoride.
This presentation first reviews the early beginnings and basic principles of fluorides, providing a guide for the types of fluorides available and efficacy. In addition, fluorosis is addressed from a global perspective. Following this, the presentation focuses in on frequently used arguments and analyzes references cited in support of anti-fluroide messaging. Support for fluoride is also addressed in this context, together with a patient-centered discussion and patient information.

Dr. Collins is a member of the American Dental Association, ADA Standards working groups, American Association of Dental Research, Chicago Dental Society, and OSAP. She is the ADA representative to AAMI, and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. During her career, Fiona has lived and worked in five countries, and has held positions in clinical practice, education and industry. Dr. Collins graduated as a general dentist from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, and holds an MBA and an MA from Boston University in the United States.
